Kenya: first imported Ebola case, one death. Pennsylvania measles: more than 1,000 cases, about 200 in hospital, 5 deaths reported by the state health department. For the whole United States, the CDC counts 2 deaths as of 1 October and says that number can still change. Siberia: one death, about 200 people under observation. Not confirmed as plague.

• 7 October 2026 · Ebola

  Kenya, 7 October: 10 people are in quarantine. Officials are trying to reach 57 more contacts of the patient who died. Tracing now includes later passengers on the same aircraft, cleaners, and immigration staff. Congo, as of 5 October: 8,665 confirmed cases and 4,178 deaths. That is 62 more cases and 30 more deaths than through 4 October. With the Kenya death, the CDC lists 8,688 cases and 4,181 deaths.

• 6 October 2026 · Ebola

  Kenya: first imported case. One confirmed case. The patient died after arriving in Nairobi on 3 October from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, via Uganda. 28 contacts are identified. 23 passengers and 4 crew are being traced. Congo, figures through 4 October 2026: 8,603 confirmed cases and 4,148 deaths. This outbreak is Bundibugyo virus, declared in mid-May.
